Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defence system developed to enable a smaller, weaker person to successfully defend themselves against a bigger stronger assailant, through the application of biomechanics and leverage techniques.

Grappling on the Ground

Gracie Allegiance Team New Zealand focusses on grappling and ground training, allowing a person to control and restrain an opponent without the need for striking. Unlike many other martial arts and self defence systems, our academy thrives on being able to adapt the teaching to an individuals physical ability, body type and age.

It gets easier. But you must start.

Our academy has helped hundreds of kids have fun and make new friends, while gaining confidence through their new found abilities.

Business people train at our academy to improve their mental strength to apply outside the training academy.

Membership Pricing

Adults Unlimited Class $38 (pay weekly)

Teens (14 – 17) training in adult classes $25 (pay weekly)

Lions Class (11 – 14 years) $220 per term

Little Lions (8 – 10 years) $220 per term

Lion Cubs (5 – 7 years) $220 per term

We do not charge for gradings.

"My big thing is to see the martial arts of Jiu Jitsu sport grow in Hawkes Bay. We have expanded our jits training facilities and upgraded the mats we train on, so we now we can run official New Zealand wide jiu jitsu competitions."

MARTIAL ARTS TEACHES DISCIPLINE AND PURPOSE

To see the confidence growing in the kids to have grandparents come in and just go man it’s so fantastic the way their lives have changed and the way they run in the house and stuff and greet the grandparents. This mean little kid just turned into this you know happy person so it once again orients that stuff and puts a spark back into them and that stuff I like way more than anything else.
